Lara Jean is a high school senior and the middle child in a close-knit Korean American family. She has two older sisters, Margot and Kitty, and a father who dotes on her. Lara Jean is shy and introspective, and she loves spending time with her family and friends.
Lara Jean is content with her life the way it is, until her older sister Margot unexpectedly announces that she is moving to Scotland with her new boyfriend. This news throws Lara Jean into a tailspin, and she begins to question whether she is really happy with her life as it is.
Lara Jean starts to think about all of the things she wants to do before she graduates from high school and heads off to college. She decides to write a letter to each of her crushes, telling them how she feels about them. She doesn’t intend to actually send the letters, but one day she accidentally leaves them in her sister’s room.
In the end, Lara Jean’s sister Margot gives her some advice about taking risks and living life to the fullest. She encourages Lara Jean to take a chance on love, and Lara Jean finally decides to tell her crush, Peter Kavinsky, how she feels about him.

About the Author
The author of the book Always and Forever, Lara Jean is Jenny Han. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 12, 1980, and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Han attended Smith College, where she majored in English and Education.
After graduation, she moved to New York City and worked in children’s publishing. Han is the author of The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, as well as the standalone novels Shug and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, which have been turned into a movie by Netflix.
Her books have been translated into more than thirty languages and have been published in over fifty countries. Han currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
In an interview, Han stated “For a while, after To All the Boys came out, I was really worried that people would only see me as a YA author and not take me seriously as a writer. But I’ve realized that there’s nothing wrong with writing YA. I’m really proud of my YA books and the fact that they’ve connected with so many readers around the world.”
