Fire & Blood Summary
Three hundred years before the events of A Game of Thrones, Westeros is a very different place. The Seven Kingdoms are not united under one ruler but are instead divided into dozens of independent states, each ruled by its own king or queen. The land is also home to many other peoples and creatures, including giants, dire wolves, and dragons.
The Targaryens are one of the most powerful families in Westeros, and they have ruled the Seven Kingdoms for centuries. But their grip on power is beginning to slip. King Viserys I dies without an heir, setting off a civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. The conflict tears Westeros apart, leaving the Targaryens on the brink of extinction.
Fire & Blood is the story of that civil war, told from the perspective of House Targaryen. It is a history of dragons and kings, of betrayal and bloodshed, of love and loss. It is a tale of Westeros as it has never been seen before.
