Lynda Mullaly Hunt (born January 29, 1952) is an American writer of children’s and young adult fiction. She is best known for her debut novel, One for the Murphys, published in 2013.
Lynda Mullaly Hunt was born in Connecticut and grew up in a small town outside Boston. As a child, she loved to read and often had her nose in a book. When she was in fifth grade, she wrote her first story, which was about a family of rabbits. Mullaly Hunt always wanted to be a writer, but it wasn’t until she was an adult that she began writing seriously.
In 2001, Mullaly Hunt’s husband encouraged her to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. She took a creative writing class and began working on her first novel. One for the Murphys was published in 2013 and was an instant success. The book won several awards, including the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Fiction and the Schneider Family Book Award.
