About the Author
J. K. Rowling is the author of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Rowling is a British author and screenwriter, best known for writing the Harry Potter fantasy series. The books have become increasingly popular, especially as they were adapted into feature films in 2001.
Rowling was born in Yate, Gloucestershire, England on July 31st, 1965, and spent the first few years of her life in Bristol. At age 9, she moved to Tutshill near Chepstow. Rowling studied at Exeter University and later attended the University of Edinburgh where she earned a French degree.
After university, Rowling worked as a researcher for Amnesty International in London before moving to Portugal to teach English. In Portugal, she met and married Jorge Arantes and gave birth to her daughter in 1993. Rowling moved back to the UK soon afterward and began writing Harry Potter in 1995.
