About the Author
Bharati V. Pathak is an Indian author and academician who has written several books on finance and economics. She is currently a Professor of Economics at the Mumbai-based Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research.
Born in Mumbai, Pathak did her schooling at St. Xavier’s High School and graduated with a B.A. (Economics) degree from Elphinstone College. She then obtained an M.A. in Economics from the University of Mumbai and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
Pathak has worked as a Senior Research Officer at the Reserve Bank of India and as a faculty member at several Indian universities including the University of Mumbai, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research. She has also been a Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund, Washington DC, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne, France.
Pathak’s research interests include banking sector reforms, monetary policy, and capital markets in India. She has published several papers in reputed national and international journals.
