Life After Death Summary
The book tells the story of Bilal, a young man from the projects who is trying to make a better life for himself and his family. After his best friend is killed, Bilal turns to drug dealing to make money. He quickly becomes successful and starts to enjoy the lifestyle that comes with it.
But when his brother is killed in a drive-by shooting, Bilal realizes that the only way to prevent more violence is to leave the drug game. He quits dealing and starts working at a community center, helping kids stay out of gangs and off drugs.

About the Author
Sister Souljah is an African American author, educator, and activist. She is best known for her novel The Coldest Winter Ever, which was published in 1999.
Sister Souljah was born Lisa Williamson in the Bronx, New York, on November 28, 1964. Her father was a truck driver and her mother was a homemaker. Souljah grew up in the housing projects of New York City and attended public schools. She was a good student, but she became involved in gangs and illegal activities during her teenage years.
In 1982, Souljah enrolled at Rutgers University on a track scholarship. She left Rutgers after one semester to pursue a career in music. She toured with Public Enemy and Ice Cube as a backup singer and dancer. And she also appeared in the films Boyz n the Hood (1991) and Menace II Society (1993).
In 1995, Sister Souljah released her first book, No Disrespect. The following year she published her first novel, The Coldest Winter Ever. The book was an instant bestseller and was adapted into a television movie in 2002.
