About the Author
Edwin Lefèvre was an American journalist and author who wrote primarily about business and finance. He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1871 and died in 1943.
Lefèvre began his career as a newspaper reporter before moving on to become a columnist and editor for several magazines, including Harper’s Weekly, McClure’s, and Cosmopolitan. It was during his time at Harper’s that he wrote the first of his many books, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, which was based on the life of legendary stock trader Jesse Livermore.
Lefèvre’s other works include Wall Street Stories, The Making of Speculation, and The Way to Wealth. He also wrote a number of articles for The Saturday Evening Post and The American Magazine.
In addition to his journalistic work, Lefèvre was also an investor and served on the boards of several companies, including the New York Times Company and United States Steel. Lefèvre was married twice and had three children. He died of a heart attack in New York City in 1943.
