About the Author
Russell Brand was born on June 4, 1975, in Grays, Essex, England. The only child of Barbara and Ronald Brand, he was raised in the town of Tylney Green. His parents divorced when he was six years old, and he was subsequently raised by his mother.
Brand attended secondary school at Grays School Media Arts College before enrolling at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. After being expelled from the academy, he took a variety of odd jobs before landing his first acting role in the British sitcom ‘Home Improvement’ in 1995. He went on to appear in a number of other television shows and films before being cast as the host of the MTV show ‘Punk’d’ in 2003.
In 2006, Brand launched his own radio show on BBC Radio 6 Music. The following year, he hosted the NME Awards and starred in the film ‘Stardust’. He also began hosting his own comedy talk show, ‘Russell Brand’s Got Issues’, on E! in 2009.
