About the Author
Robert Greene (born May 14, 1959) is an American author known for his books on strategy, power, and seduction.
Greene was born in Los Angeles, California. He earned a degree in classical studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1982 and a master’s degree in medieval history from the University of Southern California in 1984. He has worked as a writer and editor for various publications, including Esquire, GQ, Details, and The New York Times Magazine.
In 1998, Greene collaborated with Joost Elffers on The 48 Laws of Power, which became a bestseller. In 2000, he released the follow-up book The Art of Seduction. And in 2003, Greene published The 33 Strategies of War, followed by The 50th Law in 2009 (written by rapper 50 Cent).
In 2010, Greene released a book on a strategy for artists, actors, and writers called Mastery. In 2013, Power: Why Some People Have It—and Others Don’t was published. During the week of October 13, 2014, five of Greene’s books were on The New York Times Best Seller list: The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction, The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law, and Mastery.
