About the Author
Eliyahu M. Goldratt was born in Israel in 1947. He received a B.Sc. in industrial engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. In 1969, he started his business career as a project engineer and later became a general manager of a manufacturing company in Israel.
A few years later, he joined the management consulting firm, Management Workshop Ltd., which he co-founded. In 1986, he became chairman and CEO of the company.
He has written several business books, including The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement, It’s Not Luck, Critical Chain, Necessary But Not Sufficient, and his most recent book, The Theory of Constraints Handbook. He has also developed the Theory of Constraints, a methodology for ongoing improvement of manufacturing and other business processes.
The Goal is considered a classic in the field of project management and has sold over four million copies worldwide. It has been translated into 32 languages and was adapted into a feature film in 2004. Goldratt died on June 11, 2011, at the age of 64.
