Rick Riordan’s The Hidden Oracle is the first book in his Trials of Apollo series. In this book, the Greek god Apollo has been cast down to Earth in the form of a 16-year-old mortal named Lester Papadopoulos. Lester’s mission is to find and restore the oracles that have gone dark around the world, in the hope that by doing so he will be able to earn his way back into Olympus.
The book opens with Lester in New York City, where he quickly runs afoul of a group of demigods known as the Hunters of Artemis. Lester is saved from them by another demigod named Meg McCaffrey, who is revealed to be his half-sister. Together, the two of them travel to Camp Half-Blood, where they meet up with some old friends (and enemies) of Apollo’s.
The group quickly realizes that the first Oracle they need to find is in California, and they set off on a road trip across the country. Along the way, they are pursued by the Hunters of Artemis, as well as a group of Roman demigods who are working for the evil goddess Juno.
The book culminates in a battle at the Hollywood sign, where Lester and his friends are able to defeat their enemies and find the first Oracle. With the first Oracle restored, Lester begins his long journey to earn his way back into Olympus.

Rick Riordan is the author of The Hidden Oracle, as well as the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. He has also written the Kane Chronicles and Heroes of Olympus series. Riordan’s books have been translated into multiple languages and have sold over 30 million copies worldwide.
Riordan was born in San Antonio, Texas, where he currently lives with his wife and two children. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a degree in English and History.
In addition to writing, Riordan also teaches creative writing and mythology at St. Mark’s School of Texas. He has also worked as an editor for Scholastic’s Bug magazine and as a teacher at both the middle school and high school levels.
