About the Author
Stephenie Meyer is an American novelist and film producer, best known for her vampire romance series Twilight. The Twilight novels have gained immense popularity and sold over 100 million copies worldwide. Meyer was the bestselling author of 2008 and 2009 in America, having sold over 29 million books in 2008, and 26 million books in 2009.
Stephenie Meyer was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the second of six children to Stephen and Candy Morgan. Meyer grew up in Phoenix, Arizona with five siblings: Seth, Emily, Jacob, Paul, and Heidi. Meyer attended Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she was a National Merit Scholar and graduated as valedictorian.
She then attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she received a bachelor’s degree in English. Meyer met her future husband, Christian, when she was 4 years old in Arizona, and married him three months after graduating from college. Together they have three sons.
Meyer originally planned on becoming a stay-at-home mother after the birth of her third child, but began writing Twilight after the idea “wouldn’t leave her alone”. In 2005, Meyer’s agent sold the manuscript of Twilight to Little, Brown, and Company after being persuaded by Meyer’s friend Jodi Meadows to send it out on submission.
