About the Author
Arthur Conan Doyle was born on May 22, 1859, in Edinburgh, Scotland. The son of a civil servant and an Irish-Catholic mother, Doyle was raised a Catholic but later became an agnostic. He began writing at a young age and showed an early interest in detective fiction.

Doyle also wrote other fiction, including historical novels, romances, and science fiction. His most famous work outside the Sherlock Holmes series is probably “The Lost World” (1912), a tale of dinosaurs and prehistoric humans.
