About the Author
Sudha Murty is an Indian writer and philanthropist, who is best known for her works of fiction in the English language. She has written over 50 books that include regional novels, technical books, travelogues, collections of short stories, general non-fiction works, as well as four children’s books.
Born in 1950 in Shiggaon, Karnataka, Sudha Murty was raised in a traditional middle-class family. She studied engineering and worked as an engineer at TELCO (now Tata Motors) before starting the Infosys Foundation.
Over the years, her works have been translated into various Indian languages including Kannada, Assamese, and Tamil. In 2006, Murty was honored with the R.K. Narayan Award for Literature and in 2010 she was awarded a Padma Shri by the Government of India.
In an interview given to The Hindu, Murty said that her experiences of growing up in a small town and the stories she heard from elders have been the inspiration for many of her books. The Magic of the Lost Temple is one such book by Sudha Murty. It is a perfect blend of fantasy and adventure.
