Wild at Heart Summary
The book starts off with Eldredge introducing the idea that every man was once a little boy who had big dreams and a heroic heart. Somewhere along the way, life happened and beat him down until he became a “shell of a man.” Eldredge believes that every man has a “desperate need” to be passionate about something, to have adventures, and to be a hero. The book contains Christian themes, and Eldredge believes that God created men to be warriors who fight for good and defend the weak.
Eldredge goes on to say that most men today are bored with their lives because they have lost touch with their masculinity and become “disconnected from their hearts.” He believes that the problem is not with men, but with the way, society has tried to “feminize” them.
Eldredge provides readers with ways to reconnect with their masculinity and live a life of adventure. He suggests that men should pursue their dreams, find a battle to fight, and learn to love well.
