A Clash of Kings PDF is the second book in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. It was first published on November 16, 1998, by Voyager Books. The novel won the 2000 Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel and was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2000.

The novel picks up where its predecessor, A Game of Thrones, left off. The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros are in the midst of a civil war, with each claimant to the Iron Throne – Joffrey Baratheon, Robb Stark, Balon Greyjoy, Stannis Baratheon, and Renly Baratheon – fighting for control. In the midst of this conflict, the position of Hand of the King, held by Ned Stark in the first novel, is empty.

A Clash of Kings sold more than one million copies in hardcover within the first year of publication and has been translated into more than two dozen languages. The book has been adapted into a television series on HBO, with the first season covering the novel’s events.

A Clash of Kings is a sprawling epic fantasy novel with a large cast of characters and is available in multiple formats including pdf, hardcover, ebook, and audiobook.

A Clash of Kings Summary

The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros are at war, with the King in the North, Robb Stark, declaring himself King of the Iron Throne. In the east, Daenerys Targaryen – the last scion of House Targaryen, which once ruled Westeros – has hatched three dragons and is building an army to reclaim the throne. In the south, Joffrey Baratheon holds the Iron Throne, supported by his mother’s family, House Lannister. But Joffrey is a cruel boy-king and many of the lords of Westeros have turned against him.

In the north, beyond the Wall, Jon Snow – bastard son of Ned Stark – and the men of the Night’s Watch are sworn to defend Westeros against the wildlings who live beyond the Wall. But Jon Snow has found himself torn between his duty and his love for the beautiful wildling woman, Ygritte.

As these various forces maneuver for position and clash with one another, no one is safe from the ensuing violence. And, as the cold winter descends upon Westeros, the conflict threatens to envelop the entire continent.
