About the Author
Harinder Singh Sikka is an Indian writer and former naval officer. He is best known for his book Calling Sehmat, which was adapted into the film Raazi.
Sikka was born in Delhi and raised in Amritsar. He graduated from the National Defence Academy and later joined the Indian Navy. He served as a naval intelligence officer for six years, during which time he was posted in various parts of India and also spent some time in Russia.
In 1988, Sikka left the navy to pursue a career in writing. His first book, Calling Sehmat, was published in 2001. The book is based on his experiences as a naval intelligence officer and tells the story of an Indian woman who is married off to a Pakistani man in order to spy on Pakistan during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.
