About the Author
Cassandra Clare is the author of The Mortal Instruments series. She was born on July 27, 1973, in Tehran, Iran. Her family moved to France when she was five, and then to Los Angeles when she was fourteen. She has lived in New York City, Boston, and Munich. Currently, she resides with her husband and son in Massachusetts.
Ms. Clare began writing fan fiction based on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harry Potter when she was fifteen. Her first original story, The Broken Places, was published in the online magazine ShadowUniverse.com in 2006.
In 2007, she published the first book in The Mortal Instruments series, City of Bones. This series has been translated into more than thirty-five languages and has sold more than twenty million copies worldwide. Additionally, the series has been adapted for television on Freeform.
