About the Author
M.T. Anderson is an American author of young adult fiction. He is best known for his novel Feed, which was published in 2002.
Anderson was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1960. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy and then went on to study at Wesleyan University and the University of Oxford. After college, he worked as a journalist and editor before turning to write full-time. His first novel, Hereville: How Mirka Got Her Sword, was published in 2011.
Anderson has also written a number of picture books, including The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation, Volume I: The Pox Party and Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation, and Volume II: The Kingdom on the Waves. He has won several awards for his work, including the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and the National Book Award.
In an interview, Anderson said that he became interested in writing for young adults because “I like the energy and the idealism of young people. I like their sense that the world is there to be changed.” He added that he tries to write books that will make readers “think about things in a different way.”
