The book starts with a girl, Kavya Pratap Singh, who is in her final year of college and is about to get married. She is from a wealthy family and is very much in love with her fiancé, Karan Mehra. Her best friend, Riya Somani, is also getting married and Kavya is very happy for her.
However, just a few days before the wedding, Kavya’s life takes a turn when she finds out that Karan has been cheating on her. Kavya is heartbroken and doesn’t know what to do. She decides to confront Karan and ends up breaking off their engagement. Kavya is devastated and decides to move out of her home and into a small apartment. She starts working at a call center and tries to move on with her life. However, she is constantly reminded of Karan and her life starts spiraling out of control.
One day, Kavya comes home to find that her apartment has been broken into and all her stuff is gone. She is traumatized by the break-in and decides to move back in with her parents. Chetan Bhagat is an Indian author and columnist. He has written five novels, including Two States: The Story of My Marriage, Five Point Someone, One Night @ the Call Center, The 3 Mistakes of My Life and 2 States: The Story of My Marriage. His novels have been translated into over 35 languages and sold over seven million copies worldwide.
Chetan Bhagat was born in New Delhi, India. He attended the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, where he received a degree in mechanical engineering. He then worked as an investment banker with Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. In 2004, he quit his job to pursue writing full-time.
