Hollow Kingdom Summary
Hollow Kingdom follows the story of a domesticated crow named Shit Turd who lives in Seattle with his owner, Big Jim. Fascinated by the animals he sees on nature documentaries, Shit Turd spends most of his time watching TV.
One day, Shit Turd notices that Big Jim is acting strangely. He is not eating or drinking, and he is staring at a screen for hours on end. Shit Turd tries to get his attention, but Big Jim ignores him. Then, suddenly, Big Jim collapses and doesn’t get up. Shit Turd realizes that something is very wrong, and he sets out to find help.
As Shit Turd explores the world outside his home, he discovers that all of the humans have disappeared. Animals now inhabit the world and are struggling to survive in a world without humans. Shit Turd meets a wise old hound dog named Dennis, who teaches him about the new world and how to survive in it.
Together, Shit Turd and Dennis embark on a journey to find a cure for the illness that has affected Big Jim and all of the other humans. They encounter a pack of hungry coyotes and a group of domesticated cats who have formed their own society. As they continue their journey, they discover more evidence of the impact humans have had on the environment.
They see polluted rivers, trash-filled streets, and buildings in disrepair. Shit Turd realizes that humans have caused great harm to the world, and he resolves to help the animals restore it to its natural beauty.
In the end, Shit Turd and Dennis find the cure for the illness and save the remaining humans. They also help the animals to build a new society, based on cooperation and respect for the environment. Shit Turd realizes that he has a great responsibility to protect the world and all of its inhabitants, and he is proud to be a part of this new world.
