About the Author
Dr. Seuss was the pen name of Theodor Seuss Geisel, who was born in 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. After attending Dartmouth College and Oxford University, he began a successful career in advertising. His work in advertising, however, was not what he really wanted to do with his life.
Dr. Seuss’s true passion was writing children’s books. His first book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was published in 1937. It was rejected by 27 different publishers before finally being accepted. Following the publication of this first book, Dr. Seuss’s career took off.
