About the Author
Josef Albers was a painter, sculptor, and printmaker who is best known for his work on color theory. He was born in Bottrop, Germany, in 1888. Albers studied at the Bauhaus from 1920 to 1923.
His early work was influenced by Constructivism and De Stijl. In 1950, he became a professor at Yale University, where he taught until his retirement in 1966.
