James S. A. Corey is the pen name used by collaborators Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. They both live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Abraham is an author of science fiction and fantasy novels, best known for his The Long Price Quartet series.

Leviathan Wakes

Abraham was born March 18, 1969, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended Georgia Tech, where he received a B.S. in physics in 1991. He lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with his wife and daughter.

Franck was born in 1974. He has a B.A. in English from Vanderbilt University and an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Franck was George R. R. Martin’s assistant during the writing of A Dance with Dragons. Their first novel, Leviathan Wakes, was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2012. The sequel, Caliban’s War, was published in June 2012.

They also wrote the novella The Butcher of Anderson Station under the Corey name. It was nominated for a Nebula Award and won the Hugo Award for Best Novella in 2013. Abraham and Franck have also co-written a screenplay for the SyFy Channel original series The Expanse, which is based on the Leviathan Wakes novels.

They also wrote Star Wars: Empire and Rebellion: Razor’s Edge, a canon novel set in the Star Wars universe.
