The Creature from Jekyll Island Summary
In his book The Creature from Jekyll Island, G. Edward Griffin takes an in-depth look at the history and creation of the Federal Reserve System. He contends that the Fed is not a federal agency at all, but rather a private central bank that benefits only a select few.
Griffin argues that theFed was created by a small group of wealthy bankers and industrialists who had a vested interest in seeing it enacted. He claims that these men used their influence and power to manipulate the political process in order to get the Federal Reserve Act passed.
Once created, the Fed immediately began consolidating its power and growing in size. Griffin alleges that it has used its power to manipulate the economy for its own benefit, often at the expense of the American people.
The Creature from Jekyll Island is a well-researched and detailed look at the history and inner workings of the Federal Reserve System. Griffin makes a compelling case that the Fed is a dangerous institution that should be abolished.
