Synopsis
The book starts with Corso’s early life and military career, including his experiences in World War II. He then describes his time working at the Pentagon in the 1960s, where he claims to have been part of a team tasked with studying recovered alien technology.
Corso describes the strange and unusual objects that were recovered from the crash site, including materials that were unlike anything seen before. He claims that these materials were used to create new technologies that helped the United States to become a world leader in fields such as fiber optics, integrated circuits, and night vision.
Corso also discusses the alleged government cover-up of the Roswell incident, claiming that high-ranking officials were involved in a conspiracy to keep the truth from the public. He suggests that this cover-up was motivated by fears that knowledge of alien life could cause panic and disrupt society.
Throughout the book, Corso also shares personal anecdotes and insights into the inner workings of the military and government. He discusses his encounters with famous figures such as President Eisenhower and General Douglas MacArthur and provides a behind-the-scenes look at the bureaucracy and politics of the Pentagon.
Reception
The book received mixed reviews upon its release. Some reviewers praised the book for its compelling narrative and intriguing claims, while others criticized it for its lack of evidence and reliance on hearsay. Despite the criticism, the book became a bestseller and has since become a classic in the UFOlogy genre.
