Jhumpa Lahiri is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Indian descent. She was born in London, England in 1967 and raised in Rhode Island.

Lahiri received her BA from Barnard College and her MFA from Boston University. Lahiri’s debut novel, The Namesake, was published in 2003 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Her second novel, The Lowland, was published in 2013 and was a finalist for the National Book Award.

Lahiri’s short story collection, Interpreter of Maladies, won the PEN/Hemingway Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Lahiri’s writing has been praised for its insight into the Indian-American experience.
