The How Not to Die Cookbook Summary

The book starts off with a persuasive argument from the authors, Gene Stone and Michael Greger, about why it is important to switch to a healthier diet. They point out that nutrition-related illnesses are responsible for the majority of deaths in the Western world, especially those related to heart disease and cancer.

Dr.Greger further goes deep into discussing how scientific research has proven time and time again that a plant-based diet is the best way to prevent, treat, and even reverse many of these illnesses. He then offers more than 120 delicious recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts which are all based on this research. Every recipe in the book is health-focused with ingredients such as fruit, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and whole grains.

The book also includes illustrations of the 15 foods which Dr.Greger believes are essential for optimal health and disease prevention. These foods include things like blueberries, garlic, broccoli, beans and lentils, spinach, kale, and other leafy greens, tomatoes, and peppers.
