The Infinite Sea Summary

The novel opens with a prologue from the perspective of an alien named Zo. She is part of the Others’ invasion force and is tasked with observing humans. In her observations, she has begun to question the purpose of the invasion and the orders she has been given.

The story then cuts to Cassie Sullivan, the protagonist of The 5th Wave. She is living in a remote cabin in the woods with a small group of survivors, including her brother Sammy, Evan Walker, and Ben Parish. They are all trying to stay off the radar of the Others, who are using human beings as hosts for their soldiers.

One night, while they are out on a supply run, they are ambushed by a group of soldiers who have been taken over by the Others. In the ensuing firefight, Ben is shot and captured. Cassie and the others are forced to flee without him.

Cassie is determined to rescue Ben, and she sets out on her own to find where he is being held. She eventually finds a base in the middle of the woods that are being used by the Others as a prison. In the end, she is successful in rescuing Ben, but they are both captured by the Others in the process.

The novel ends with a cliffhanger, as Cassie and Ben are taken to an unknown location by the Others.
