About the Author
Wes Moore is an American author, motivational speaker, and social entrepreneur. He is the author of the 2010 book The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates, which tells the story of his life and that of another man named Wes Moore who grew up in similar circumstances but chose very different paths in life.
Wes was born in 1978 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Joyce D. Moore and Wes Moore Sr. His father abandoned the family when Wes was just a toddler, and his mother struggled to support her three children on her own. Despite these difficult circumstances, Wes was an excellent student and went on to attend Valley Forge Military Academy and College in Pennsylvania.
After college, Wes joined the Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2002 and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.
Upon returning from Afghanistan, Wes enrolled at Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a master’s degree in international relations. He also worked as a producer for The Oprah Winfrey Show and as a writer for MSNBC.
