About the Author
Renee Ahdieh is the New York Times bestselling author of The Wrath and the Dawn and The Rose and the Dagger. She was born in North Carolina, but spent most of her childhood in various parts of Asia, including Pakistan, Thailand, and Viet Nam. In her spare time, she enjoys reading (especially fantasy novels), playing video games, eating sushi, and spending time with her husband and children.
Renee Ahdieh’s debut novel, The Wrath and the Dawn, was inspired by One Thousand and One Nights (also known as The Arabian Nights). His other works include The Beautiful and the Cursed and The Witch of Willow Hall.
In an interview, Ahdieh stated that she “fell in love” with the story of One Thousand and One Nights when she was in high school. She was also inspired by the work of Authors such as Annette Curtis Klause and Cynthia Hand.
When asked about her writing process, Ahdieh stated that she usually starts with a “very messy first draft”, which she then revises and edits. She also does a lot of research to make sure that her world-building is accurate.
