About the Author
Ben Carson and Cecil Murphey co-authored the book Think Big, which was published in 1990. Carson is an American neurosurgeon and author, while Murphey is a professional writer who has authored more than ninety books.
Carson was born in 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, to Sonya and Robert Solomon Carson. He was the youngest of two sons. His mother had a third-grade education and his father worked at various jobs, including as a factory worker and janitor. Despite their limited education and income, Carson’s parents instilled in him the importance of getting a good education.
Carson attended Yale University, where he earned a degree in psychology. He then went on to medical school at the University of Michigan, where he became a neurosurgeon.
