About the Author
Amish Tripathi (born 18 October 1974) is an Indian author, known for his novels The Immortals of Meluha, The Secret of the Nagas, and The Oath of the Vayuputras. He has written a trilogy based on the life of Lord Ram, titled Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta, Hanuman: The Immortal Avenger, and Sita: Warrior of Mithila.
Tripathi was born on 18 October 1974 in Mumbai and brought up in a typical middle-class Hindu family. His father was an assistant general manager at the State Bank of India and his mother was a homemaker. He did his schooling at St. Xavier’s High School, Mumbai, and graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay with a degree in mechanical engineering.
He then worked for 14 years in the financial services industry, including at DBS Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank, before quitting to pursue his dream of becoming a writer. Tripathi’s first book, The Immortals of Meluha, was published in February 2010. The book was rejected by many publishers before being published by Westland Press.
It went on to become a bestseller and was the first book in the Shiva Trilogy. The second book in the series, The Secret of the Nagas, was released in August 2011 and the third book, The Oath of the Vayuputras, was released in March 2013.
