The Civil Engineering Handbook Summary

The first section of the book, entitled “Materials,” covers the properties and behavior of the materials commonly used in civil engineering projects, such as steel, concrete, and asphalt. This section also includes information on the testing and quality control of these materials.

The next section, “Structures,” covers the design and analysis of various types of structures, including bridges, buildings, and dams. This section includes information on the load-bearing capacity of different types of structures, as well as design guidelines and codes. The third section, “Geotechnical Engineering,” covers the properties and behavior of soils and rocks, and their use in foundation and earthworks design. This section also includes information on soil mechanics, site investigation, and slope stability.

The fourth section, “Transportation Engineering,” covers the design and analysis of transportation systems, including roads, railways, and airports. This section includes information on traffic engineering, pavement design, and transportation planning. The fifth section, “Water Resources Engineering,” covers the design and analysis of water resources projects, such as dams, canals, and irrigation systems. This section includes information on hydrology, hydraulics, and water management.

The final section, “Environmental Engineering,” covers the design and analysis of projects related to the environment, such as waste management and pollution control.
