About the Author
John Green is an American author of young adult fiction. He won the 2006 Michael L. Printz Award for his debut novel, Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, and his fourth novel, The Fault in Our Stars, debuted at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list in January 2012.
Green is also a YouTube video blogger and creator of the educational channel Crash Course. He has also co-written several novels with David Levithan, including Will Grayson, Will Grayson.
Green was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Mike and Sydney Green. He has two older brothers, Hank and John Michael. When Green was four years old, his family moved to Michigan so that his father could attend the University of Michigan Medical School. He then grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, before moving to New York City for college.
Green graduated from Kenyon College in 2000 with a double major in English and religious studies. While at Kenyon, Green was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. After graduating from Kenyon, Green worked as a student chaplain at a children’s hospital in Cincinnati and then as an assistant chaplain at a New York retirement home. He also taught students English in suppressed Cambodian communities as part of an organization called Cross-Cultural Solutions.
