The Fifth Agreement takes these principles even further to teach readers how to become impeccable with their words, not take anything personally, and not make assumptions. The authors also provide the tools readers need to break old patterns of thinking and speaking that keep them from achieving their goals.

The Fifth Agreement focuses on the power of words, urging readers to be mindful of their speech and use it as a powerful tool in life. It encourages readers to speak with love, truth, and clarity. The authors urge readers to speak their truth without blame or judgment, to practice forgiveness for themselves and others, and to liberate themselves from the expectations of others.

About the Author

The Fifth Agreement is a book written by Don Miguel Ruiz and his son Don Jose Ruiz. Don Miguel Ruiz, who often goes by the nickname “Miguel,” was born in rural Mexico in 1952, to parents of Nahua Indian descent.

The Fifth Agreement

After growing up with shamanic teachings from his grandfather, he began to study medicine and eventually became a surgeon. He had an awakening experience in which he realized that the beliefs of his ancestors about life had more truth to them than modern medicine.

This led him to dedicate his life to studying, sharing, and teaching these ancient Toltec principles. His books have sold over eight million copies, in 38 languages, and his teachings have been featured in many films, books, and articles.

He is the author of four best-selling books — The Four Agreements, The Mastery of Love, The Voice of Knowledge, and The Fifth Agreement. Don Miguel Ruiz has won numerous awards for his work, such as the National Hispanic Heritage Award for Literature, and he was also appointed by President Barack Obama to the Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
