About the Author
Og Mandino was an American author. His book The Greatest Salesman in the World is an international bestseller. Og Mandino was born December 12, 1923, into a large family of Italian immigrants in Pittston, Pennsylvania.
As a young man, he served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he attended college on the G.I. Bill, earning degrees in journalism and business administration. Mandino began his sales career as a door-to-door salesman for the Encyclopedia Britannica. He later became a successful salesman for Mutual of Omaha insurance company.
In 1968, he wrote his first book, The Greatest Salesman in the World, which has sold more than 30 million copies and has been translated into over 20 languages.
In an interview with Mike Martin, Og Mandino said that the book was “a story of the importance of doing things right.” The book is based on a scroll found by Hafid, the protagonist.
