About the Author
Ruth Ware is a British thriller writer. She has written four novels, In a Dark, Dark Wood, The Girl in Cabin 10, The Lying Game, and The Woman in Cabin 10. Her fifth novel, Disclaimer, will be published in May 2017.
Ware was born in London and brought up in Sussex. She studied English Literature at the University of Birmingham and worked in book publishing before becoming a full-time writer. She started from the basics of thriller writing while working on her debut novel, In a Dark, Dark Wood. The book was published in 2015 and was an instant bestseller, being optioned for television by Shine Pictures.
In an interview, Ware said that “The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl were big influences on my debut, In a Dark, Dark Wood – in terms of both their success in terms of commercial appeal and dark female anti-heroines.”
Her work has been compared to that of Agatha Christie and Daphne du Maurier. Ware has said that she is a “big fan” of Christie and that And Then There Were None is her favorite book.
