Winter Summary

The novel picks up where the previous book, Cress, left off. Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter have escaped from prison and are on their way to Earth in an attempt to overthrow Levana. However, they are intercepted by Levana’s forces and are forced to land on Luna. There, they are taken prisoner and separated.

Cinder is taken to the palace, where she meets Winter, Levana’s stepdaughter. Winter is afflicted with a strange mental illness that causes her to see things that aren’t there. Cinder is also introduced to Jacin, a guard who has been assigned to watch over her.

Meanwhile, Scarlet, Cress, and the others are taken to a labor camp, where they are put to work in the mines. There, they meet Wolf, a former street fighter who has been imprisoned for his role in a rebellion.

As Cinder gets to know Winter, she starts to question whether Levana is really as evil as she has been led to believe. When Levana announces her plans to marry Kai and make him the emperor of the Lunar Empire, Cinder realizes that she must stop her.

With the help of Jacin, Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Wolf hatch a plan to overthrow Levana. They are successful in defeating Levana and restoring Kai to the throne. However, the cost of their victory is high, as many people are killed or wounded in the battle.
