About the Author

Khaled Hosseini is the author of And The Mountains Echoed. Hosseini was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, on March 4, 1965. He is of Afghan and Iranian descent. Hosseini’s family moved to Iran in 1976 and then to the United States in 1980.

And the Mountains Echoed

Hosseini attended high school in San Jose, California, and later graduated from Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine in 1993.

Hosseini is the author of three novels: The Kite Runner (2003), A Thousand Splendid Suns (2007), and And The Mountains Echoed (2013). His first novel, The Kite Runner, was an international bestseller and has been translated into over seventy languages.
