Jeffrey Archer is a British author and politician. He was born in London in 1940 and educated at Oxford University. Archer is the author of numerous bestselling novels and short story collections, including Kane and Abel, Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, First Among Equals, A Matter of Honor, As the World Turns, Shall We Tell the President?, and The Prodigal Daughter.

Archer served as a member of the House of Commons from 1969 to 1974, and as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party from 1985 to 1986. Archer has been married twice and has four children. He lives in London and Cambridgeshire. In an interview, Archer stated that his best-selling novel, Kane and Abel, was inspired by the lives of John D. Rockefeller and Lenin.
