About the Author

Greg McKeown is the New York Times bestselling author of Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. He is a former Apple computer engineer and has consulted for Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Intuit, and Yahoo! He has an MBA from Stanford University. McKeown lives in Silicon Valley with his wife and three children.

He was born in England and raised in Northern Ireland. McKeown’s father was a math teacher and his mother was a nurse. He has two brothers, one of whom is an engineer and the other is a doctor. McKeown’s first job was working in a computer store. He then worked as a software engineer for Apple Computer, where he was part of the team that developed the Macintosh operating system.

In 2010, McKeown founded a company called This Is Productivity, which helps organizations achieve better results with less effort. The company’s clients have included Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Intuit, and Yahoo!

In an interview, McKeown said that the idea for his book came to him while he was working at Apple.
