In the end, Luce chooses love and is able to break the curse, but not before she suffers some heart-wrenching losses. Fallen is a story of love, loss, and redemption that will stay with readers long after they finish the last page.

Kate was born in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. She attended Stanford University, where she studied English Literature. After college, she worked as an editor for a publishing company in New York City. Kate currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two young children. When she’s not writing, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and traveling.

In an interview, Lauren Kate stated that the Fallen series is “a love story, and it’s about free will, and it’s about good and evil.” She has also said that the series is “about what happens when you’re willing to sacrifice everything for love.”

When asked about her favorite book, Kate said that she doesn’t have just one favorite, but that she loves anything “by Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters, or Toni Morrison.”
