As the book progress, Katie and Michael’s relationship becomes more physical. They spend more time alone together and experiment with kissing and touching. One night, they go further than they ever have before. The experience is overwhelming for Katie. She is confused and conflicted about what she wants and how she feels. On the one hand, she is deeply in love with Michael and enjoys Physical intimacy with him.

Judy Blume was born Judith Sussman on February 12, 1938, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She grew up in a Jewish family with two older sisters. Blume’s parents were both teachers. Her mother also worked as a librarian. As a child, Judy loved to read and write stories. After graduating from high school, she attended college at Rutgers University. She married John M. Blume, a lawyer, in 1958. The couple had four children together.

Judy Blume began her writing career in 1969 with the publication of Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. The book was an instant success and has become a classic of young adult literature. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret deals with many of the issues that preteen and teenage girls face, such as religion, friendship, and boys.
