About the Author
Iain Reid is a Canadian writer and filmmaker. His debut novel, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, was published in 2016 by Simon & Schuster. The book was a finalist for the 2016 Scotiabank Giller Prize and the 2017 Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and won the 2017 Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Literature of the Fantastic.
Iain Reid was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and grew up in the small town of Almonte. He studied philosophy at Queen’s University. After graduation, he worked as a filmmaker, producing short films that have screened at festivals around the world. He lives in Toronto.
I’m Thinking of Ending Things is Reid’s first novel. It was inspired by an experience he had while working as a filmmaker. He was driving to a shoot in the middle of winter, and he began to worry that he might die in a car accident. This led him to think about what would happen if he disappeared and his body was never found.
