About the Author
Victoria Aveyard is an American author who wrote the Red Queen series. The series consists of three books: Red Queen, Glass Sword, and King’s Cage. She has also written a prequel novella, Steel Scars.
Aveyard was born in 1984 and raised in Massachusetts. She graduated from Hamilton College in 2006 with a degree in English. After college, she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a screenwriter for several years.
In 2012, she started writing Red Queen after getting the idea for the story while watching the television show, Spartacus. It took her two years to write the first draft of the novel.
Aveyard currently lives in Colorado with her husband and two dogs. She is working on her next project, which is a new series set in the world of Red Queen. Aveyard is well-known for her strong and powerful female characters, as well as her fast-paced writing style.
She won the 2016 Goodreads Choice Award for Best Debut Author for Red Queen and the 2016 Goodreads Choice Award for Best Young Adult Fantasy & Science Fiction for Glass Sword.
