The book was well-received by critics, with particular acclaim towards the development of Percy and Annabeth’s relationship as well as the humorous moments provided by Leo Valdez.

The House of Hades Summary

The House of Hades picks up immediately after The Mark of Athena ends. Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to find their own way down, and they face many challenges along the way.

Once they all reunite, they must close the Doors of Death to prevent Gaea from rising. But first, they have to find the Doors, and that means journeying through the Underworld, which is full of dangers.

They are also pursued by Titans, who are working for Kronos. If the Titans catch them, it will mean certain death.

Along the way, they make new friends and allies, including Bob the Titan and Nico di Angelo, son of Hades. They also have to contend with old enemies, like Luke Castellan and Calypso.

In the end, they succeed in their quest, but not without cost. One of their own is lost, and another is forever changed. But they have saved the world from destruction, and they have saved themselves.
