The Last Olympian Summary
The book follows the Greek demigod Percy Jackson as he and his friends attempt to stop the goddess Kronos from rising to power and devouring Olympus. Percy, who is the son of Poseidon, is prophesied to be the one who will defeat Kronos.
Along the way, Percy must grapple with his own identity, as well as his place in both the Greek and Roman pantheons. He must also come to terms with his feelings for the demigod Annabeth, daughter of Athena.
As the book progresses, it is revealed that Kronos has been disguised as Percy’s teacher Mr. D, and has been manipulating events from the shadows to ensure his rise to power. In the end, Percy defeats Kronos and foil’s his plans, but not before Olympus is destroyed and many demigods are killed.
The book ends with Percy saying goodbye to Annabeth and his friends as he sets out on a new quest, this time to find the missing goddess Artemis.

Rick Riordan is an American author who writes fantasy fiction. His books have been translated into 42 languages and sold more than 30 million copies in the US alone. He is best known for his Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, which chronicles the adventures of a young demigod named Percy Jackson as he and his friends battle Greek mythology monsters.
Riordan’s other series include The Heroes of Olympus, The Kane Chronicles, and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard. He has also written two non-fiction books, Demigods and Monsters: Your Favorite Authors on Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series and Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods. Rick Riordan was born on June 5, 1964, in San Antonio, Texas. He grew up in the suburb of Alamo Heights with his parents, Rebecca and Christopher Riordan. He has two sisters, Amy and Haley. When he was a child, his family took regular trips to the Rio Grande Valley to visit his grandparents.
Riordan attended Alamo Heights High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and played football. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in English and History in 1986. He also holds a master’s degree from St. Mary’s University.
