About the Author
Gary Gygax was a game designer and writer who was born on July 27, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois. He is best known as the co-creator of the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing game, which he developed with Dave Arneson in the early 1970s. Gygax was instrumental in creating many of the foundational concepts and mechanics that have become staples of the Dungeons & Dragons universe, including the use of polyhedral dice, character classes, and fantasy settings.
In addition to his work on Dungeons & Dragons, Gygax was also involved in the creation of several other tabletop games, including Chainmail, a medieval wargame, and the science fiction game Starship Troopers.
