One day, Gram gets a letter saying that her ranch is going to be sold, and she decides to go to her lawyer in Wisconsin to try and stop it. Donal accompanies her on the journey, which turns out to be an eventful one. They encounter a cowboy poet and a hobo who teaches Donal how to cook.
